SUMMER B.A.S.E. Camp 2011!
We are focusing on the Environment and Sustainability and our broad theme is:
Exploring the Environment
May 31-June 3 Think Global, Act Local (a preview of all the things we will be doing in the summer and a kick off to our recycling and composting programs)
June 6-10 I Dig Dirt (lots of fun activities, including more detail on composting, and starting our community garden)
June 13-17 Helping Hands (this will focus on Active Citizenship – recycling, volunteering, service learning, community service, being good environmental stewards – during this week we will hold a canned food drive and a clothing drive. This will also focus on jobs and careers)
June 20-24 The Healthy Body, Healthy Mind Challenge (this will be a week of fun competition, it will include a focus on nutrition and exercise and living healthy. There will be individual, group, and large group challenges)
June 27-July 1 Raiders of the Lost Artifact (this is for fun! Will include history and historical ways of life, some mystery and critical thinking, fossils and archaeology)
July 5-8 Keep It Simple (we will be making fun things from simple, easy to find ingredients. We will also talk about how less is more when it comes to sustainability)
July 11-15 Biosphere (this is a focus on ecosystems and habitats – will include some pollution and endangered species)
July 18-22 Let’s Explore (Nature and the Great outdoors)
July 25-29 Use it Again (repurposing and recycling)
August 1-5 Energize Me (energy conservation, options, climate change, greenhouse gases, etc.)
August 8-12 Farm to Table (harvesting the garden for some feasting, in addition to farm animals and vehicles, types of farms, and food and nutrition)
